Buchholz's Perfect Sixth Inning; Nine Pitches, Nine Strikes
The Boston Red Sox may be a huge disappointment this year, but they had a bright spot last night in pitcher Clay Buchholz.
Clay Buchholz pitched an absolute perfect, flawless sixth inning against the Baltimore Orioles. Nine pitches, nine strikes, three strikeouts.
According to STATS Inc., this was only the 47th time in MLB history that a pitcher has pitched a nine pitch, three strikeout inning.
Now if only the rest of the Red Sox pitching staff can be as good, the Red Sox will probably still miss the playoffs, but they won't look so bad doing it.
