Enough With The Skip Bayless, ESPN
I was watching ESPN First Take the other day (I don't know why either) and I swear Skip Bayless was on 90% of the show. First Take used to consist of a mix of inane debates, interviews, and games that are embarrassing for everybody involved. Remember "Sibling Sez" or "Disney Olympics". Boy I do hope Dana beats Jay this year! Now it consists of just those same inane debates with Skip Bayless and any ESPN analyst they wrangle up or bribe just to appear on the show.
The things Bayless say are outlandish and just plain insane. I don't like LeBron either, but Bayless makes him look like he's no better than Kiki Vandeweghe. He thinks, for some reason, Troy Aikman is gay (don't pretend like you didn't say it, Skip) even though he was married and has two kids. He seems to dislike Aaron Rodgers and Calvin Johnson even though they are superstars. Countless other things have been said but I cannot fit them all on this post.
I don't think Skip believes the things he says all the time. He just says these things because he feeds off the anger and the haters out there. ESPN is clearly marketing him with the "I Heart @RealSkipBayless" shirts and when ESPN sees something they want to promote they promote the hell out of it (The Longhorn Network, QBR, etc.).
ESPN needs to show less of Skip Bayless, and First Take for that matter, and focus on sports instead of trying to get into stupid debates, playing hacky games, and SportsCenter anchors trying to come up with stupid catchphrases (I kid you not I heard someone use a line from those JG Wentworth commercials as one). ESPN controls most everything in sports. So we sports fans really have no where to turn and until that time we just have to deal with the inane babble of Skip Bayless and others trying to be the next Chris Berman.
