Just one day after the Denver Broncos waived Kyle Orton, their AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, claimed him off waivers.
The Chiefs will pay the remainder of Orton's salary which equals out to about $2.5 million. The Chicago Bears, Orton's former team, and the Dallas Cowboys also put in claims for the former Bronco.
The Chiefs starting quarterback, Matt Cassel, is out for the year with a broken hand as Kansas City is still in the hunt for the AFC West crown. Orton was benched in favor of Tim Tebow after Orton went just 1-4 this season with the Broncos.
Orton will report to the Chiefs on Thursday, but is not expected to start Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tyler Palko will most likely get the nod.
