Nationals Catcher Ramos Kidnapped In Venezuela
The Aragua Tigers, a Venezuelan Winter League team, has confirmed that their, and Washington Nationals, player Wilson Ramos has been kidnapped.
According to El Nacional, a Venezuelan newspaper, four armed gunmen kidnapped Ramos, 24, near his home. The gunmen have not contacted Ramos' family, but have contacted the police. Ramos was with his family at the time of the kidnapping.
Ramos played in 113 games last season with the Nationals, hitting .267 with 15 home runs and 52 RBIs. Ramos was traded from the Minnesota Twins to the Nationals in July of 2010 for pitcher Matt Capps.
