Nine Giants Try to Run Down Eric Young, Eventually Succeed
The dictonary defines rundown as "A play in which a runner is trapped between bases and is pursued by fielders attempting to make the tag."
No one told the San Francisco Giants exactly how many fielders you should ideally use.
The Giants' Madison Bumgarner caught the Rockies' Eric Young trying to steal third and attempted to pick him off. Then that's where this takes a turn for the weird.
And that is your textbook 1-5-6-4-5-3-1, with Bumgarner getting both the assist and putout on the play.
Not everybody participated in the rundown, but the Giant outfielding squad of Melky Cabrera, Angel Pagan, and Hunter Pence were present in the infield and ready to go.
Of course the best way to watch this clip is to listen to "Yakety Sax".
Its really the best way to watch anything.
