Razorbacks Freshman TE Dies In Hospital
Arkansas Razorback freshman tight end Garrett Uekman died Sunday afternoon in a Fayetteville hospital.
He was 19.
Uekman was found unconscious in his dorm room late Sunday morning. When the EMTs came, he was in cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead just under an hour later. A cause of death is not known at this time.
Uekman redshirted last season as he worked out with the Arkansas scout team. This season he appeared in nine games for the Razorbacks and played last night for Arkansas in their 44-17 triumph over Mississippi State.
According to friends and family, Garrett's dream was to play football for the University of Arkansas and got to fulfill his dream.
Coach Bobby Petrino said in a statement, ''Garrett Uekman was a special member of our family, and we are all saddened by his passing, his loss is a terrible shock, and it makes you realize how precious life is.''
