Its been a tough year all around for the Boston Red Sox, but their minor league players have fared a little better and last night one of them may have made the catch of the year.
Former Major Leaguer and current Pawtucket Red Sox outfielder Jason Repko made an outstanding catch in the first inning. Repko flipped over the fence to rob former Chicago Cub Kosuke Fukudome of a grand slam.
The Pawtucket Red Sox still lost to the Yankees AAA team, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, 6-2.
Repko said of the catch after the game, "It definitely felt good, but we still lost. I want to be happy about it, but you can’t be because you lost and you still feel down about the game,"
"All in all, when I got home and saw it on TV, I was like, 'that was kind of cool.' I enjoyed it, and to see it [on SportsCenter] was cool."
Given the Red Sox current state of disarray, maybe the Sox should give the former big leaguer another shot.
