REPORT: Marlins Hire Mike Redmond as Manager
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Miami Marlins have hired former Marlin catcher Mike Redmond to be the team's next manager.
Redmond retired from playing in 2010 and was recently the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays Single-A affiliate, the Dunedin Blue Jays.
Redmond has a friendly relationship with owner Jeffrey Loria and team official Larry Bienfest and was considered as a front runner for the job from the beginning. The Marlins also interviewed former Phillies manager Larry Bowa.
Redmond will replace Ozzie Guillen after a season filled with so much promise fell way short of expectations.
