Stern To Rome: "Have You Stopped Beating Your Wife?"
On today's "The Jim Rome Show". Rome's guest was NBA Commissioner David Stern and Rome asked him whether or not the NBA Draft Lottery was rigged since the league owned New Orleans Hornets won. So, naturally, Stern had this retort:
Jim Rome really gets under people's skin, but this statement by David Stern was way out of line. If the NBA Lottery really wasn't rigged, then Stern should have just calmly said no. Instead, he decided to go for the low blow and accuse Jim Rome for beating his wife (Rome has never been arrested for beating his wife and seems to be just an urban legend).
Rome deserves credit for handling the statement so calmly and didn't resort to just hanging up.
David Stern needs to apologize for this outrageous statement. Stern ended the heated call by saying that he needed to take a call from Stephen A. Smith. Good luck trying to get a word out edgewise.
By the way, the NBA Lottery is absolutely fixed.
