Ever since Clay Bennett and his cronies snatched the Sonics away from Seattle, the city has been trying to get back a piece of their city history.

Now, NBA commissioner David Stern has said it is a very real possibility. With certain guidelines, though.

Stern has said that if the city of Seattle can come up if some money and build a new arena then he will open up to the idea of bringing the Sonics back to Seattle. "Everyone says to us, 'Well, would you consider going back?' Of course, if they have a building. And so that's where it's left. We have no involvement," Stern said. "But we certainly are — if anyone asks us, we tell them what we know and we're happy to talk to them. … There's no shortage of potential sites, but the funding is a huge issue."

The city has been working on getting money for a new arena, which Seattle so desperately needs. The aging Key Arena was the main focal point of the original Sonics move to Oklahoma City.

However, in this day and age where the NBA is strapped for cash, an expansion team is highly unlikely. They would need for a team to move to Seattle and do what Clay Bennett did to them on another fanbase.
