Alabama football has a roster stacked with defensive backs, including seven in the 2024 recruiting class.

Could Nick Saban land an experienced playmaker at the position in the NCAA transfer portal?

Domani Jackson, a product of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., was on the Crimson Tide’s radar in the 2022 recruiting cycle. He was one of the top cornerbacks in the class as a five-star, and he committed to the University of Southern California.

Jackson recently entered the portal last week (Dec. 19) after two years with the Trojans.

He finished with 33 tackles and three pass breakups in 11 games this season.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder was at Alabama’s practice on Thursday, taking in its Rose Bowl preparation for Michigan on New Year’s Day. Alabama brought in Trey Amos (cornerback) and Jaylen Key (safety) from the transfer portal for this team. Both have been impactful in the Crimson Tide winning a Southeastern Conference Championship and returning to the College Football Playoff. Key, a transfer safety from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has 56 tackles, a breakup, and an interception.

Amos, a transfer cornerback from Louisiana-Lafayette, has 12 tackles, four breakups, and a quarterback hurry.

We will see how Saban plays it, but it’s interesting to see Jackson taking in Alabama’s bowl practice.
