West Virginia gains the depth they’ve been looking for as a junior college tight end announces his commitment to the Mountaineers. Gregory Genross commits a couple days after visiting the WVU football program.

Genross (6-foot-7, 230 pounds), a junior college tight end out of Dodge City Community College in Kansas, perfectly fits the bill of a player looking to advance his game after a couple of seasons of post high school football. On Sunday, Genros returned from an official visit with West Virginia over the weekend.

A John F. Kennedy High School product from New City, N.Y., Genros made 16 receptions for 173 yards and scored two touchdowns in 2023. He recorded 26 catches for 265 yards and three scores overall in two season at Dodge City.

West Virginia also pursued Genros last year, as did Mississippi State, but he ended up staying for another season of junior college football. Genros currently also has offers from Marshall, South Alabama and Western Kentucky.

In terms of the tight end position under coach Blaine Stewart, the Mountaineers are counting on another solid season from Kole Taylor and increased production out of Treylan Davis.
