Former Georgia OL Amarius Mims says a former Tennessee Vols defender was the toughest player he had to block in 2023
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

A former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman was the toughest player that former Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Amarius Mims had to block last season.

Mims, who was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 18 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, told A to Z Sports' Travis May at the NFL combine earlier this offseason that former Vols defensive lineman Tyler Baron was the toughest player he had to block in 2023.

The former Georgia standout also pointed out former LSU pass rusher BJ Ojulari, a second round selection by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2023 NFL Draft, as a tough player to block.

"I would probably say my sophomore year, against LSU, tried to block BJ Ojulari, he was pretty good," said Mims when asked about his toughest opponents to block. "I'll say this year, Tyler Baron from Tennessee, he's good."

Baron totaled three tackles, including a tackle for loss, in Tennessee's matchup against Georgia this past season.

While Baron was clearly a player that Tennessee's opponents took notice of last season, that won't be the case in 2024. Baron, who has one year of eligibility remaining, left UT earlier this offseason via the NCAA transfer portal.

Baron first committed to Ole Miss this offseason before flipping to Louisville (where he went through spring practice). The Tennessee native re-entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month.

A return to Ole Miss is on the table for Baron. Miami and USC are also showing interest in the former Vol.
