A widely read sports columnist publicly accused New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers of lying about the nature of his Achilles injury. Rodgers has missed every Jets offensive play this season except the first series in Week 1 after he suffered a torn Achilles.
Rodgers’ rehab appears ahead of schedule for most players who sustain an Achilles injury. It typically takes anywhere from six to 12 months to recover from the injury. However, Rodgers and the Jets think he could return to play before their Christmas Eve game.
If Rodgers is back in time for the holidays, that would mean the timeline for his recovery from the torn Achilles injury to playing an NFL game would be under four months.
Rodgers underwent an experimental procedure with the hopes he could recover in time to make the playoffs if the Jets were able to make it.
Fans on social media have been skeptical about the Achilles injury. Some think it’s not a true Achilles tear that caused NBA star Kevin Durant to miss a lot of time. Now, a sports columnist is questioning Rodgers’ integrity as more reports surfaced about the quarterback’s recovery.
Gregg Doyel with the Indianapolis Star called out Rodgers for being deceitful about the injury. Doyel wrote on X that he doesn’t believe it’s a torn Achilles injury.
I don’t believe for a second he suffered a torn Achilles, at least not as we know what a torn Achilles is. Whatever Kevin Durant, Kobe and Brandon Graham suffered, he did not. Because this procedure would be trumpeted as a breakthrough, not treated as a secret. Plus he’s a liar. https://t.co/dDl0Z2DMEp

When a fan corrected Doyel on the type of process Rodgers underwent and how the video of Rodgers’ injury looks like an Achilles tear, Doyel doubled down on his opinion.
If I stand corrected someday I’ll say it here. He hasn’t earned the benefit of the doubt.

One wonders what Rodgers has to gain from such a conspiracy to hide the nature of the Achilles injury. It’s a bizarre conspiracy that doesn’t have evidence on its side.
While Rodgers is known for taking liberties with the truth and news, he’s an athlete who can suffer an Achilles injury. Rodgers also has the money and will to try experimental procedures that can offer him a fast recovery.
There’s no reason to believe the Jets, Rodgers and the NFL are hiding something about the injury.
