Tottenham ‘interested’ in bringing 25-year-old winger back to the Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur want to reinforce their attack ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on their former youth product Marcus Edwards.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in bringing him back to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old came up the ranks at the North London club at some pace. While he never really got promoted to their first team, Edwards did make his first-team debut for the club before joining Vitória Guimarães in the summer of 2019.

After a few impressive seasons, Portuguese giants Sporting CP signed him in the winter of 2022 and he hasn’t looked back since. In his 99 appearances for the club, he has 21 goals and 25 assists.

Spurs have been keeping an eye on him for a while and they are quite impressed with his recent heroics. They want to reinforce the right flank and are considering bringing him back. He is versatile in nature and will give Postecoglou a lot of options to work it.

Tottenham can sign Marcus Edwards on a bargain

Reports earlier suggested that Spurs had a buy-back-clause worth £34 million, just 65 per cent of his £52 million release clause. But, they don’t even need to trigger it as Sporting are ready to listen to an offer of around £17 million.

While they would love to have him in their ranks for years to come, he is someone who they are ready to listen to offers for. Meanwhile, the player has a desire to return to England and has talked about it in the past. As a result, a move seems to be a real possibility.
